Merchants can now control the functions available to their Terminal and Web users by assigning them various roles.
Adding roles and permissions to a Terminal User:
- Owner
- Manager
- Employee
You can add new roles with customized permissions if you have users that fall outside of these default settings. Permissions are broken out into a few categories:
- Poynt App Access: which native apps a user can view/use when logged in on the terminal
- Business Settings: manage users on device and web, as well as the ability to update store and business settings
- Transactions: manage which transactions a user can process on the terminal
- Sales, Reporting & Settlement: manage which reports and settlements actions a user has access to on the device
Note: Owners, by default, will have access to all the functions. You can customize the Manager and Employee roles depending on what they will be doing in your store.
Adding roles and permissions to a Terminal User:
To add a new role or to customize the permissions for each role, go to Users tab in Poynt HQ and click on Device users. Click on Role and Permissions on the right hand side corner.
Select Add custom role button on the right hand side corner.
Name the new role and assign the functions associated with it. Click Save.
Adding roles and permissions to a Web User:
To send a Web user invite, go to Users tab in Poynt HQ and click on Web users. Click on Invite web user on the right hand side corner.
When sending a Web User invite, you can assign a specific role to a user based on the permissions they will have.
You can choose to assign a specific role with as the followings:
- Accounting: View transaction history and reports
- Sales: Perform Virtual Terminal transactions and send invoices
- Marketing: Manage customers and Loyalty, edit receipt and terminal branding
- Customer Support: View and refund transactions, resend receipts, message customers
- Inventory: Edit catalogs, products, discounts, fees, and taxes
- Admin: Access and manage everything on the business HQ account
To customize the permissions for each web user role, go to Users tab in Poynt HQ and click on Web users. Click on User roles and Permissions on the right hand side corner.
Choose permissions required for each role and click on Save permission levels once done.
Note: Only the Premium plan gives you the ability to customize roles and permissions for web users.
