Every time you perform or attempt a transaction, the Poynt system assigns a specific icon to give a description of the transaction status. To further provide a definition of each term and icon please review the following table:

Transaction Status |
Authorized: When the merchant has just received an approval from the bank that issued the customer's payment card. In short, the transaction amount doesn't reach the merchant account until the funds are captured. |
Partially Captured: It means that a transaction can be captured over multiple captures. A typical scenario is when a customer creates an order with multiple products, where some products are backordered. |
Captured/Completed: It takes place after a payment authorization. It's when the authorized money is transferred from the customer's account to a merchant's account. |
Partially Refunded: Occurs when only part of the money is given back to the client, which is typical practice when the client has used part of what they originally purchased. |
Refunded: Once you “settle” or “capture” your sale, the only way to cancel or undo a mistaken sale is to process a refund (also known as a return). Transferring settled funds from your merchant account to the customer's account varies by merchant and bank, with some taking a few days (3-7 business days). |
Declined: Means that something went wrong while a purchase was being processed and that the purchase couldn’t be completed. This could happen for many reasons, including account set up, processor restrictions, card reader issue, incorrectly entered information, etc. |
Voided/Canceled: A transaction that is canceled by a merchant or vendor before it settles through a consumer's debit or credit card account. Voided transaction will typically disappear from a customer's credit/debit account statement within 24 hours, while the funds may take 1 to 3 business days to be released back on a customer's credit/debit account statement.
