FAQ: What is Reseller and what do they do?

A Reseller is the organization that provides Poynt devices and activates them for the Merchant to use.  All Poynt devices must be purchased via a certified Reseller or ISO (Independent Service Organization). 

What does a Reseller do?

The Reseller deploys the Poynt device, activates it and onboards new merchants, and manages existing merchants. Your Reseller is also your first point of contact for any issues or questions regarding your Poynt device.

When should I reach out to my Reseller?

Your Reseller can help answer/trouble-shoot almost any question you might have about your Poynt device. Some of the most common things you can ask your Reseller to do are:

• check status of Poynt device
• update business information:  address, phone, name
• update business/store settings:  enable processing debit cards, tips, skip signature, setting refund thresholds
• update banking information tied to your account
• reset terminal and Poynt HQ password
• provide training/walkthroughs on how to use the Poynt device:  processing a transaction, setting up a catalog, pulling transaction reports, issuing refunds
• fees:  monthly fees, transaction fees, processing fees, etc
• swapping device
• lease/contract questions
• cancelling Poynt service
• returning Poynt device
• ordering replacements parts such as charging dock, charging cable
• associating/activating devices against a new merchant
