How to set up Tips on the Poynt device?

Setting up your Poynt terminal to accept Tips is very easy and only takes a few moments.  Tips can be set and customized by going to  https://poynt.net/business/stores (or https://poynt.net/settings/store/payment in the new Poynt HQ).  

Once in Store Settings, click on the Payment Settings tab.

There are two options:  Smart Tips and Custom Tips.  Custom Tips allow you to allow you to choose between either a set dollar amount or a set percentage based on the total bill.

Smart Tips gives you even more flexibility in customizing tips.  This is beneficial for small business who have a lot of small transactions.  You can set tips as normal, choosing either a percentage or set dollar amount.  But for transactions under $10, you can further customize tips.  You can set separate percentage or dollar amounts for these lower amount transactions.

NOTE:  To accept tips on the Poynt Smart Terminal, your payment processor must have tips enabled for you on their systems. Restaurant merchants by default are on-boarded with tips enabled, but other merchant types will need to opt-in. Please reach out to your reseller organization with assistance with this.
