Terminal passcodes can be changed either on the device itself or through Poynt HQ web portal. Passcodes can only be reset by those who are permissioned to (typically Owners or Managers).
Review the permission settings on Poynt HQ web portal to see who has access to reset passcodes (https://poynt.net/business).
To update/change passcode from Poynt HQ web portal:
Step 1: Log into Poynt.net and click on Users on the bottom left hand side of the navigation bar. Select Device users, and choose the device user you want to change the passcode.
Step 2: Under the Actions column, select the Edit user to pull up the user's information.
Step 3: Enter a new passcode under Reset Passcode and click on Save.
To update/reset the passcode on the device:
Step 1: Click on the User icon either on the top right hand corner of the screen, or the menu bar on the bottom. Select the user that needs to be reset.
Step 2: Click on the RESET PASSCODE link on the bottom.
Step 3: If a user is trying to reset the passcode, but does not have the permission to, they will be prompted to notify the Owner to reset the password.
Step 4: The Owner will receive an email, which will redirect them to reset the passcode for the user.
Step 5: If an Owner or Manager needs to reset their code, clicking on RESET PASSWORD will prompt an email reset to them.
Step 6: The link in the email will allow them to change the passcode.
