New Software Updates for Poynt merchants – April 2016
1. Register App – Ability to Cancel Open/Saved Orders
In Poynt Register App, merchants who have Saved/Opened Orders which will never complete, can now mark the order to be cancelled (i.e. a customer begins an order, cashier saves the order in progress, but customer then decides not to complete the purchase), merchant can now pull up the Order and tap on the Cancel Order button.
2. Register App – Custom Notes on Orders appear on screen and printed receipts
Entering Custom Notes will appear on the merchant screen and printed receipts. You can use this feature if you need to include special instructions, notes or customer name for pick-ups.
3. Register App – Custom Item Amounts can be flagged as taxable or tax-exempt (if Catalog Tax is set)
4. Register App – Item Sales Reporting available
Reports are available for merchants who want to analyze order information regarding specific product / item sales from Poynt Register App.
5. Poynt.net HQ – Transaction Details design updates
A new look for Transaction Details & History on your Poynt.net web view. You can see the details of a specific transaction by clicking on the Details button where you see information such as status (e.g. authorize, capture, refund). You can also email receipts to customers by clicking on the Receipt button.
6. Poynt HQ iOS App – Options to receive Reporting and/or Transaction Push Notifications
Merchants who have the Poynt HQ iOS App can now opt to receive push notifications for:
- When Reports are generated
- When Transactions are processed
To turn these notifications ON, merchants would simply go to their Business Settings page and toggle the Notifications. By default, Reporting Notifications are set to ON.

As a reminder: If the Poynt Smart Terminal is docked and powered on, merchants do not need to take any action as the update will automatically install during the nightly maintenance window. If the device is off during the nightly reboot, when it is powered on, the latest software update will begin to download. After reboot, merchants should allow the update to fully install.
